Memorial celebration planned Saturday in S.J. for Saratoga girl
By the Mercury News
The public is invited to attend a memorial service for Kaitlyn Langstaff on Saturday at Westgate Community Bible Church in San Jose.
The 9-year-old Saratoga girl died Dec. 17 at home after struggling for nearly two years to overcome a debilitating disease that left her unable to see, speak or eat. Her condition apparently was caused by a severe reaction to Children's Motrin.
``This will be a celebration of Kaitlyn's life,'' said her mother, Kerry Langstaff.
``We will have live music, a slide presentation, children's stories, special speakers, a balloon release and more.''
Kaitlyn's fight to resume her life -- including returning to school -- after she was released from the hospital prompted hundreds of letters of support from around the country.
A poem she wrote, called ``I Am the Same Inside,'' was turned into a song by local musicians. It was featured on a CD and at a benefit concert in her honor at Santana Row in San Jose last summer.
The memorial will begin at 2 p.m. at the church, 1735 Saratoga Ave., San Jose.
