Students to help stricken girl

Saratoga High School students have come together to help one little girl in her battle against a rare skin disease by organizing a fashion show in her honor this month.
The event will help raise money for Kaitlyn Langstaff, 9, of Saratoga who suffers from toxic epidermal necrolysis, a severe form of Stevens Johnson syndrome, which attacks the skin and mucous membranes and causes lesions that resemble second-degree burns.
``We decided it would be nice to pick one person to support,'' said Catherine Chang, a Saratoga High School student and one of the event organizers.
``It motivates other students and puts them in touch with where all our hard work is going to.''
The fashion show is an annual student-run fundraiser for charity. It will be held March 22 on campus in the cafeteria.
There will be a show at 3 p.m. that students are invited to attend, and a later show at 6:30 p.m. for adults.
The later show will include a donation drawing for the Langstaff family, who will be in attendance.
The tickets cost $15 for students, $25 for adults and $30 for VIP seating. Refreshments will be provided.
Some of the prizes offered at the drawing include tickets to Disneyland, a weeklong trip to Puerto Vallarta, Mexico, and a weekend stay at the Hyatt Sainte Claire in San Jose.
